Westbound traffic on U.S. 26 was at a virtual standstill about 4 p.m., from the merger with Oregon 36 as far west as Government Camp, as seen on an ODOT traffic cam.

Ambulances were seen headed west on 26. Many drivers are choosing to turn east and detour through Hood River. Traffic appeared to be moving slowly about 5:30 but traffic was still thick.

Further details were not available.
