PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Union Gospel Mission has put out an “all-call” for turkey donations just two days before Thanksgiving.

Demand has increased this year because of prolonged unemployment and the economic downturn, according to the agency.

Volunteers will start cooking about 1 p.m. Tuesday in order to prep an estimated 2,000 meals by Thursday.

Donations are accepted at the Union Gospel Mission, located at 15 NW 3rd Ave.
