Portland unemployment remains high

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland's unemployment rate remained virtually unchanged in October - ticking up a tenth of a percent from 11.5 to 11.6.
Last October, the rate was 6.8 percent. An estimated 125,700 area Oregonians were unemployed in October, state economists said.
Statewide, the rate was 11.3 percent.
Since peaking in January 2008, the metro area has lost 67,800 jobs; a decline of 6.5 percent.
