MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. -- Several police agencies continued searching Umatilla County for the suspect in a fatal Friday shooting in Milton-Freewater.

As first reported in the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, Cecil "Rob" Carter was shot Friday morning in the 52800 block of Stephens Road. He was taken to the Providence St. Mary Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A person of interest was identified as George Craigen, 49, of Milton-Freewater.  He was described as 5 feet, 7 inches, 160 lbs, with blue eyes and  graying hair. Oregon State Police said he was last seen running away into an orchard, armed with a handgun.

The suspected shooter was still on the loose Saturday and Umatilla County Sheriff John Trumbo said OSP troopers were assisting in the search, along with a Walla Walla SWAT team, Milton-Freewater Police and the Umatilla County Major Crimes Team.

The suspect was known to authorities and considered "very dangerous," Trumbo said.
