PORTLAND, Ore. -- A flight to Chicago from Portland will no longer require stops in San Francisco or Seattle.

Alaska Airlines announced Monday that daily nonstop service has been launched from Portland International Airport to Chicago's O'Hare International, the latest new route offered this year.

“This new nonstop service provides customers with a critical link between Portland and the nation’s second-busiest airport,” said Andrew Harrison, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of planning and revenue management.

O'Hare is among the top 10 most-visited destinations from PDX, Harrison added.

The nonstop flight started Monday and leaves once daily, at 10:10 a.m.

From Chicago, travelers can board a flight to Portland at 4 p.m.

More information was available at the websites for Alaska Airlines and the Port of Portland.

I'm sure as soon as the city and state find a way to tax it, Alaska Airlines will pull it again....

Airlines are common carriers under Federal Law, and cannot be taxed at the state or city level. Sorry, gambino, but the reason Alaska pulled the flight before was low ridership (probably due to the fact that Alaska had some of the highest fares at the time).
