ALBANY, Ore. -- Five teens were arrested Thursday and Friday in connection with an assault that left an Albany man seriously injured last month, police said.
A man called Albany police at around 10:30 p.m. January 22 to report that his son had been assaulted by a group of teenagers in the 900 block of SE Bain Street, according to Lt. Brad Liles.
The victim, 20-year-old Nicholas Raymond, told police the attack was unprovoked. He was hospitalized with serious injuries to his face.
Detectives Thursday contacted 19-year old Zachery Mendoza and 18-year old Josiah O’Malley at separate locations in Albany, Liles said. Both were arrested and taken to the Linn County Jail on charges of second-degree assault.
Friday morning detectives and school officers contacted two more male suspects, ages 15 and 16. They were arrested for second and third-degree assault and taken to the Linn-Benton Detention Center. A 15-year-old girl turned herself in later in the day and was also lodged in the facility on a third-degree assault charge.
Detectives continued to investigate. Anyone with information was asked to call Albany police at (541) 917-7686.
