FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) -- Police have arrested two men in the New Year's Eve shooting that injured a 7-year-old boy in Forest Grove.
Police say Jaimie Eli Moya, 33, of Cornelius, admitted he fired a handgun in the direction of homes on Yew Court to celebrate the new year.
He thought the bullets were hitting the ground, police said, and never intended to hurt anyone. He was arrested Sunday on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering.
James Sanchez Hernandex, 28, of Hillsboro, also was arrested Sunday and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of witness tampering in the case and hindering prosecution.
The injured boy was expected to make a full recovery.
Both men were scheduled to be in court Monday.
