Macy's annual Holiday Parade to wind through Portland

PORTLAND -- Macy’s has announced that its annual Holiday Parade has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 28.
The parade, which is sponsored by KGW Newschannel 8 and The Oregonian, starts at 8:45 a.m. at Lincoln High School. Marching bands, costumed characters and inflatables will travel north on SW 14th Avenue and then east on Alder Street.

It will wind past the Downtown Macy’s and then head right on SW 2nd Avenue to Taylor Street, before heading west to end back near Lincoln High.
New floats this year include a cat riding an ornament, a giant cupcake and a huge pot of poinsettias, store officials say.

The parade will open with a performance by the von Trapp Family Children with the Oregon Symphony.
Local violinist Aaron Meyer is also scheduled to perform before the parade. Santa Claus will arrive at Macy’s after the parade.
