12:03 PM PDT on Tuesday, July 1, 2008
Fireworks, including sparklers, are banned in state parks and on Oregon's ocean beaches at all times, including the Independence Day holiday.

The ban is intended to protect both visitors and natural resources.
"Fireworks can hurt people, cause wildfires, harm wildlife and create litter and debris," said Jeff Farm, Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept. ocean shores manager.
Only fireworks managed as part of Fourth-of-July community events with pre-approved permits are allowed.
