Vancouver prepares for huge fireworks show

VANCOUVER, Wash. – A bang-up blowout is expected for the annual “Comcast Presents 4th of July at the Historic Reserve” this year in Vancouver.

The popular event will feature the largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi, along with a full day of entertainment, food and family fun.

The festivities begin at 9 a.m. with music, kids games, arts and crafts, carnival rides and food.

Plus, anyone in a shopping mood can also stroll through local art booths with creative gifts on sale to commemorate America’s patriotism.

As for the highlight of the night, the fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 10:10 p.m. The powerful pyrotechnics show, choreographed to music, will likely last about a half hour, according to organizers. Folks already home by that time still don't have the miss the show; the fireworks will be broadcast live on KGW Newschannel 8 and also streamed live on kgw.com.

People planning on attending “Comcast presents 4th of July at the Historic Reserve” were also encouraged to take part in "Take $4 to the 4th," which is a volunteer donation campaign for local charities.
