BEND, Ore. -- Authorities say a wildfire that burned about 30 acres in Central Oregon prompted Memorial Day weekend campers to evacuate an area near Pine Mountain.
KTVZ-TV in Bend reports that about 100 firefighters worked Monday to contain the blaze burning about 30 miles southeast of Bend. It was first reported around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say no structures were threatened or damaged by the fire.
Deschutes County sheriff's Sgt. Vance Lawrence said the fire came within a half-mile to two miles of some area campsites.
Campers were not required to evacuate the area Sunday, but authorities "strongly recommended" it.
