PORTLAND, Ore. -- Get some exercise and fight breast cancer in a non-competitive walk honoring mom on Saturday.
The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is set to take start at the Rose Quarter on Saturday, May 9.
A program honoring breast cancer victims and survivors begins at 8:45 a.m. in front of the coliseum, followed by the walk, which will begin at 9:30 a.m., said Gretchen Rosenberger with the Cancer Society’s local office.
The 2.5-mile walk is dedicated to raising awareness and money in support of breast cancer research, programs, advocacy and patient services.
Walks are scheduled in 600 cities in town across the U.S., with more than 600,000 participants, according to the local Cancer Society.
Entertainment and food will be provided after the walk.
