Wives don’t just want a card or flowers every second Sunday in May; they want your time, attention and tenderness, too. Here are a few tips from across the Web to surprise her and make her day a memorable one.
Take charge of the house. Decorate with balloons, streamers and wildflowers the night before Mother’s Day.
Cook. Plan ahead and prepare a delicious dinner on Mother’s Day. Choose a recipe she loves, use fresh ingredients, keep it simple and comforting. If she is an Italian food lover, make a simple lasagna or pasta primavera.
Take care of her car. Fill up the tank, vacuum out the inside, wash and wax the outside. You’re saving her money and time, both of which she’ll thank you for.
Groom Yourself. Let her know your time is hers on Mother’s Day by choosing a nice suit, grooming, using cologne and shaving. Take the time to look nice for her.
Give her an IOU. Promise Mom tickets to an upcoming concert or play, or offer a weekend free of chores. This gives her a choice in when to redeem her gift -- she can use it immediately or save it for another time.
However you decide to honor her, it won’t be complete without a handwritten note. Writing notes takes your time and shows you care. Whether it’s a lengthy love letter or just a couple lines reminding her she’s appreciated, hand writing is a gesture sure to flatter and delight her.
