1. How do I subscribe to My Specials Direct offered on khou.com?
Our registration process makes subscribing to My Specials Direct quick and easy.
Please go to the following address to subscribe:

From there, either sign-in if you are already a registered user or complete the simple, one-time registration form and "Submit". You will then be presented with the registration form. Select the activities and lifestyle categories you wish to subscribe to by clicking on the appropriate boxes and "Submit". You will receive My Specials Direct e-mailings that are relevant to the interest categories you select.

2. How can I unsubscribe from My Specials Direct offered on khou.com?
Please go to our Member Center to unsubscribe from My Specials Direct: http://www.kgw.com/sharedcontent/registration/membercenter.jsp

1. Sign-in, if prompted, by entering your e-mail address and password. If you do not remember your password, follow the "Forget Your Password?" link and directions so a new password can be immediately e-mailed to you. Using your new password, you can then login.

2.From there you will be presented with a list of options. Simply click on the My Specials Direct link under My E-Mail options and follow the instructions if you wish to unsubscribe.

Due to the high volume of e-mail passing through our mail servers hourly, it is not possible for us to resubmit a My Specials Direct e-mail. You might find the My Specials Direct e-mail in your "deleted items" or "trash can" or "recycle bin" folders.

5. My e-mail browser doesn't support graphically rich e-mail, like "HTML" e-mail. I can't receive documents with photos, video or audio clips. Can you send me My Specials Direct e-mails in text-only format?

We only offer My Specials Direct in HTML format. If your e-mail program does not allow you to view HTML e-mail, you can go to http://www.yahoo.com or http://www.hotmail.com and sign-up for a free e-mail account that does support graphically enhanced e-mail. If you already registered with us, you can have your newsletters sent to that new e-mail address by contacting a Customer Service representative through the form at this link: http://www.kgw.com/contact/

6. I am an AOL user, and I can't read any of the My Specials Direct e-mail I receive from khou.com. Can you help me?
Versions 4.0 and 5.0 of the AOL mail program don't fully support "HTML" e-mail nor does AOL allow you to read "HTML" e-mail from the web. In order to read our newsletters in the proper format, it is necessary for you to upgrade to AOL's new, fully HTML-compatible version 6.0.

7. I am a CompuServe user, and I can't read any of the My Specials Direct e-mail I receive from khou.com. Can you help me?
Only CompuServe 6.0, the latest version, is compatible with HTML e-mail. In order to read our newsletters in the proper HTML format, it is necessary for you to upgrade to CompuServe's new, fully HTML-compatible version 6.0.

8. I am a Lotus Notes user, and I can't read any of the My Specials Direct e-mail I receive from khou.com. Can you help me?
Lotus Notes 4.0 users can read our "HTML" e-mail newsletters in two easy steps. Instead of clicking on the Newsletter Icon and hitting the "Launch" option on the menu, click on the "View" option. By hitting "View" you will be able to read the newsletters. Lotus Notes version 5.0 is able to handle all types of e-mail.

9. Hotmail is my e-mail service and I don't seem to be receiving any of the My Specials Direct e-mails I subscribed to. Can you help me?
Hotmail often treats our newsletters as bulk mail (or spam mail). Hotmail offers an Inbox Protector which automatically filters out any bulk mail or spam mail to all intended recipients. In order to receive your My Specials Direct e-mails, you will need to set a filter and direct your newsletters to your inbox or folder of choice. Here's how:
1. Select "Options" from the top nav bar of the Hotmail mail page.
2. Under "Mail Handling" click "Inbox Protector"
3. Scroll down to "Safe List" and enter "<kgw.com>" in the "Type in a single address or domain" box. (NOTE: this method only works for newsletters offered by <kgw.com>; for newsletters offered by other Belo sites, the user will need to insert that domain name instead of <kgw.com>.)
4. Click the "Add" button to include e-mail from <kgw.com> in your Safe List.
5. Click "OK" to accept this change to your Hotmail account.

10. Yahoo! is my e-mail browser and I don't seem to be receiving any of the My Specials Direct e-mails I subscribed to. Can you help me?
Yahoo! often treats our newsletters as bulk mail (or spam mail). Yahoo! automatically filters out any bulk mail or spam mail to all intended recipients. In order to receive your newsletters, you will need to set a filter and direct your newsletters to your inbox or folder of choice. Here's how:
1. Click "Options" on the left side of the Yahoo! e-mail page.
2. Under "Mail Management" click "Filters"
3. Click "Create"
4. Set the first line to read: "From header contains the phrase <khou.com>". Be sure to leave the "Match Case" box unchecked. (NOTE: this method only works for newsletters offered by <khou.com>; for newsletters offered by other Belo sites, the user will need to insert that domain name instead of <khou.com>.)
5. At the "Deliver to:" line, choose the folder you would like to newsletters to be delivered to. You can choose "Inbox" or, if you would like to have the newsletters automatically delivered to another folder, select that folder from the list. Or choose "New Folder" and create one now.
6. Click "Save" when you are finished.
7. The next screen will confirm your filter settings. It should read something like: If "From" contains "<khou.com>" then deliver to "Inbox".

All our My Specials Direct e-mails are completely compatible with both the Mac and PC formats. The problem is with the html-compatibility of your e-mail program. Please find your e-mail program in our FAQ's for the solution.
