Broadway Cab, Portland's oldest and largest cab company, announced Monday that it was adding hybrid cars to its fleet.

Six Toyota Prius vehicles have been added to the fleet of more than 200 vehicles, and the company says it plans to continue replacing traditional vehicles with those that are more sustainable or use alternative fuels.

"Taxicabs are not usually thought of as a green industry, but we're actually an important part of the system that allows people to live without one or multiple cars," said Raye Miles, President of Broadway Cab.

There is no additional cost to Hybrid taxi passengers for "green" rides.
