Rose City shines as one of the country's cleanest cities

The Rose City is now also known as one of America’s cleanest burghs.

Forbes Magazine ranked Portland No. 5 on their list of top ten cleanest cities in the U.S.

Researchers measured air quality -- including smog and ozone levels, water quality, per-capita spending on Superfund cleanup sites and waste management from the cities with more than a million people.

Seattle ranked No. 2 on the list, and Miami, Fla. Came in first.

Forbes praised the 14-year, $2 billion investment to clean up the Willamette River, along with the MAX light rail, sidewalks and Tri-Met’s biofuel bus fleet.

Portland was also one of the cities on the list with a growing population.
