Homeowner is recycling everything - literally

A Southeast Portland property owner embarked on the ultimate recycling project -- an entire house and yard.
Shannon Quimby bought the home on SE Rex Street as a fixer only to later find out that the city declared it unlivable.
So she decided to start the “REX Project: Recycle Everything eXperiment,” and tear down the house, move it across the property along with trees and other landscaping.

Crews from Cascade Contracting and the Rebuilding Center were also helping with the job.
On Friday, they planned to move trees, some up to 25 feet tall. They hired a crane for that job after finding out they were way too heavy to move any other way.
Quimby said it would have cost around $20,000 to tear out the old landscaping and redo it, but this way the cost was around just $10,000.
