Shred Day a hit at KGW
08:06 PM PST on Friday, January 25, 2008
Shred day returned to KGW Northwest Newschannel 8, to help viewers get rid of documents in a way that protects their privacy while benefiting the environment.
Shred Day ran all day until 7 p.m. on January 25th. In all, 121,500 pounds were shredded. That paper will be recycled, saving the equivalent of 202.5 trees.
Cintas Document Management spearheaded the shredding effort and people brought documents they wanted destroyed for free. People were able to bring up to two boxes or bags of documents to be destroyed on site.
All the paper collected during Shred Day was destined be recycled. Every 600 pounds that gets recycled equals one tree saved.
