Reggie Aqui joins KGW NewsChannel 8 from CNN in Atlanta, where he worked for CNN International anchoring breaking news from the Japan Tsunami to the “Arab Spring” uprising. He anchored CNN’s online network including coverage of President Obama’s inauguration which broke internet viewership records. His reporting for CNN brought him to the Virginia Tech shootings, the 2008 Democratic and Republican conventions, and natural disasters from raging forest fires in California to deadly tornadoes in Florida.
Reggie attended the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then worked for stations in Green Bay, Milwaukee and Houston.
Now he has fallen in love with a new city. Portland brings him closer to his brothers and sisters in his native Hawaii and to his parents who decided to jump on the bandwagon and also move to Portland. Don’t worry; he's not living with them. But he will be living with his dog Woodstock. Reggie hopes Portland can teach his high-strung beagle to chill out.
