DOCUMENTARY - Albina: Portland's Ghetto of the Mind (1967)

Albina: Portland's Ghetto of the Mind

The award winning documentary "Albina: Portland's Ghetto of the Mind" originally aired in 1967. It was produced by KGW News anchor and director Richard Ross, Ralph Ahseln and Malcolm Cross.

It brought into focus the question of how the African-American citizens of Portland had historically been marginalized and how the Albina neighborhood had been overlooked by city leaders for development and educational opportunities.

KGW produced a follow-up documentary 13 years later with "Albina" (1980).
