Oregon watershed plans 10-year restoration model
11:30 AM PDT on Thursday, April 24, 2008
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Bonneville Environmental Foundation says it has reached an agreement with the Coos Watershed Association for a 10-year model restoration and monitoring program to restore salmon runs to the rivers and streams that flow into Coos Bay.
The foundation pledged $260,000 to support the watershed group's long-term restoration strategy, along with help from an independent scientific advisory team.
The foundation says the region needs long-term commitments like the Coos Bay plan to protect the environment.
The Bonneville Environmental Foundation was established in 1998 with revenue generated from the sales of green power products to support restoring watersheds and renewable energy.
