BEATLES, ELVIS, BEACH BOYS NOMINATED FOR AMERICAN POP MUSIC HALL OF FAME

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- The Beatles, Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys are among 40 nominees for the American Pop Music Hall of Fame. Tony Bennett, The Carpenters, Chubby Checker, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Neil Diamond and Simon and Garfunkel are also nominated. Online voting starts later this week at www.AmericanPopMusicHallofFame.org . The top 20 will be inducted next May. The hall of fame will have a temporary home in a cafe outside Pittsburgh next July, with plans for a permanent building.
