NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Plans are under way to mark what would've been Johnny Cash's 80's birthday. There's an effort to preserve Cash's childhood home in Dyess, Arkansas, and turn it into a museum. The groundbreaking for the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Project will take place on his actual birthday, February 26. Many of Cash's children and grandchildren are planning to attend. It's going to be restored based on old photos and memories of relatives and decorated like the family had it in the 1930s and '40s. A new Cash museum will open in Nashville later this year and several music releases are expected to commemorate the anniversary of his birth. There are three documentaries in the works as well. Cash died in 2003 at 71-years-old of complications from diabetes.
