MORGAN FREEMAN: RECEIVES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD AT GOLDEN GLOBES
BEVERLY HILLS, California (AP) -- It's officially known as the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. But Morgan Freeman says in his home, it will be called the Sidney Poitier Award. Freeman took note of the accomplishments of the first black man to win the Oscar for best actor while accepting the DeMille honor at the Golden Globes last night. Freeman says he's impressed to receive an award Poitier himself won. And the feelings seemed to be mutual. Poitier said of Freeman: "you are indeed a prince in the profession you have chosen" -- and thanked him for "raising the level of excellence yet another notch." Poitier himself got a standing ovation from the audience, even as he helped present the award to Freeman. In accepting the honor, Freeman thanked those he has worked with over the years for all the fun he's had. He indicated he wasn't quite ready to quit, saying: If you do what you love, you'll never have to work a day in your life."
