CANBERRA, Australia (AP) -- Beyonce has been called "fly" before. But this is probably the first time she has been called A fly. And yes, it's supposed to be a compliment. An Australian researcher says he has named a fly after the singer because the fly was so "bootylicious." What qualified the fly for that distinction -- Bryan Lessard says the fly has a golden-haired backside -- so he's naming it after Beyonce. The official name: Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae. Lessard says that would mean Beyonce would be "in the nature history books forever." And he says he's a fan of the singer -- and hopes she takes the gesture as a compliment. The fly was first captured decades ago -- but is just now getting its name. Another reason it's being named after Beyonce is that it was captured in 1981, the same year Beyonce was born.
