"AMERICAN IDOL" BEGINS ANEW
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The first guy to audition for the new season of "American Idol" not only made it through, but could be a ladykiller. Seventeen-year-old David Leathers Junior says his nickname is "Mr. Steal Your Girl." The judges gave golden tickets to an NBA dancer, the daughter of former Cardinals pitcher Joe McGrane, the guy who quit his job to audition even though his wife is pregnant, and the guy with the poetic name of Phillip Phillips. They said no to the woman who described Steven Tyler as her "future ex-husband" and another woman who said she'll just audition again in Texas. Forty-two golden tickets were given in Savannah. Tonight's auditions will be in Pittsburgh.
