BEVERLY HILLS, California (AP) -- Octavia Spencer quoted Dr. Martin Luther King as she got her Golden Globe for her work in the movie "The Help." Spencer won the award for best supporting actress for her role as a maid who helps expose the conditions she and other black domestics faced during the civil rights era. As she accepted the award, she said something King said best describes the conditions of domestics in this country -- both then and now. Spencer quoted King as saying: "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance." And Spencer thanked those who voted for the Golden Globes "for recognizing that" by supporting the film. Spencer was the only winner from "The Help" to win at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, California last night. Other nominees included Viola Davis as best actress and Jessica Chastain -- who was nominated along with Spencer for best supporting actress.
