It may always seem like "beer week" in Portland, but this week, it becomes official.
Portland Beer Week is an 11-day celebration of beer, starting on Thursday, June 9. For the 6th year of the festival, there are events happening all around the city, including the Fruit Beer Festival, the Beer and Cheese Festival, and the Rye Beer Festival. Today we will be previewing the Rye Beer Festival, which will take place on Friday, June 10 at EastBurn.
The event will feature 20 rye beers, and will also serve as a fundraiser for the Children's Cancer Association. There is also an official Rye Beer Fest beer, and mixologist Jacob Grier will be making an official beer cocktail, which he will demonstrate for us today.
