PORTLAND - Danny Bruno spent 30 years performing on stage and in some smaller TV roles – but the Portland man caught his big break with a recurring role on NBC’s Grimm.

“I went into read for something else, a rat character, a father rat,” says Bruno.

However, the casting directors didn’t see Bruno as a rat. Instead, they thought he’d make a better beaver. Even though his “beaver face” was digitally enhanced, Bruno was asked to give his best impression on set. He’s made several appearances on the show now as Bud the Beaver.

We first met Bud as he repaired Det. Nick Burkhardt’s refrigerator on the show. That’s when Bud discovered Nick was a Grimm.

He went from being a scared repairman to a key role in the latest episode. Bud helped Nick solve a murder. Since his character wasn’t killed off in season one,

Bruno is hoping that Bug will make a comeback this fall.

“I think maybe there’s a chance that Bud would come back…let’s keep our fingers crossed…(chuckles).”
