PORTLAND – Portland musician Liv Warfield was in New York Tuesday night to perform on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
The R&B singer-songwriter with long ties to Portland, will make her national television debut on Late Night at 11 p.m.
Born in Peoria Ill., Warfield moved to Portland in her late teens on a track scholarship and started dabbling in music.
“It started in Karaoke,” said Warfield on a promotional video on YouTube. “I’m not ashamed to say it.”
Warfield’s website says her time in Portland changed her life and that “after stepping on stage everything transformed for the once upon a time shy girl from Peoria.”
Warfield has performed with B.B. King, The Roots, Dave Matthews Band, Al Green and Jeffery Osborne. She is currently a member of Prince’s band, the New Power Generation.
She said on Tuesday night she'll sit in with Fallon’s band The Roots before performing with her own.
