PORTLAND – Season 4 of the ever-popular and irreverent comedy series Portlandia debuts Thursday night on IFC.

After his recent departure from Saturday Night Live, Fred Armisen has been keeping busy with his new gig as band leader for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Portlandia is now his and costar Carrie Brownstein’s central outlet for their offbeat brand of humor.

IFC leaked a few sneak peeks at sketches from the upcoming series, including a scene where Armisen plays an “edgy” art teacher at Portland Community College’s north campus.

The show has always generated mixed reviews in the city it pokes gentle fun at. But after four seasons, even the most insulted Portlanders have likely softened their outraged hearts and come to appreciate Portlandia’s wry humor.

If you don’t have a television or would rather watch the show in a communal atmosphere, several theaters and bars will be playing Thursday’s episode.

The Mission Theater will show an early screening with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the show starting at 7 p.m.

The Radio Room on Northeast Alberta, and Cartlandia, the bike-centric food cart pod on Southeast 82nd will also be hosting 10 p.m. viewings for the season opener.
