PORTLAND -- The World Naked Bike Ride is scheduled in Portland this weekend and police have asked riders to ensure that at least their heads and feet are covered.
The ride is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Saturday, at SE Water Avenue and SE Salmon Street. Nearly 8,000 people took part in the same ride last year, according to Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
Extra officers will be on hand to ensure everyone is safe, and to help guide the riders through intersections, Simpson said.
"The Portland Police Bureau recommends that all riders at least wear a helmet and shoes to avoid any potential injuries," he added. "Bike lights are also recommended."
The ride is permitted and traffic will be affected throughout much of Southeast and Southwest Portland.
