PORTLAND – A former Portland State University student has written screenplay that will start filming in Nashville with Robin Williams in the lead role.

Douglas Soesbe’s “Boulevard” starts production in May. The story is about a man, played by Williams, who is “trapped in a marriage that isn’t emotionally fulfilling, largely because he is living a lie,” according to PSU. It will be directed by Dito Montiel.

Soesbe grew up in Northeast Portland and graduated from PSU with a bachelor’s degree in theater in 1971 and a master’s degree in playwriting in 1976.

“That something I wrote attracted a talent as discerning as Mr. Williams is a thrill. The day I found out was simply the most exciting time of my life,” Soesbe said.

He lives in Los Angeles where he also works as a story analyst and editor for Universal.
