PORTLAND -- After months of speculation, the buyer of the most expensive painting ever sold at auction has been revealed.

The New York Times reported that Elaine Wynn, co-founder of the Wynn casino empire, purchased Francis Bacon’s "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" for more than $142 million in November.

The triptych is currently on display at the Portland Art Museum.

Forbes estimates Wynn’s net worth at about $1.9 billion.
