PORTLAND -- With the wet weather setting in, man Portland area parents are finding indoor fun with Dora and Diego at the Portland’s Children’s Museum.

The traveling Dora & Diego - Let's Explore exhibit is attracting large crowds.

“Dora and Diego are huge with kids these days because of the popular television show on Nickelodeon and we’ve recreated their world,” said Melody Bridges, the marketing manager at the museum.

Children can slide down the surface of the Purple Planet, stand at the controls of a spaceship, dressed in a spacesuit, and they can play in the flowery garden.

“My 2-year-old daughter loves the show, and with the repetition I think she learns a lot,” said mom Julie Wilhelm.

The features of the exhibit were created at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

“Every single element in this exhibit is translated into Spanish,” Bridges said. The educational signage is a nod to the heritage of Dora and Diego.

“I’m really impressed with the layout,” said dad Dave Sallur. "It’s spacious enough for the kids to really have fun.”

Admission is $10 for parents and kids.

The exhibit will be in Portland until Jan. 20, and many parents are getting requests for a repeat visit.

“My daughter said this is the best day ever," said mom Teresa Watson. "It made me feel good to know I got this one right.”
