Turns out, there's a long list of entertainers that have performed for dictators or their family members.

Mariah Carey

When: 2008 and 2013

What happened: Carey performed for dos Santos, who has been criticized by the Human Rights Foundation for ordering the execution of various politicians, journalists and activists. This is not the first time she has come under fire for singing for controversial leaders. In 2008, she performed four songs at a private party for Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

Beyonce and Usher

When: 2009

What happened: Jennifer Lopez was slammed after she sang Happy Birthday to Turkmenistan leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in a June show. Kanye West

When: 2013

What happened: Kanye West received backlash after he performed at a wedding party in Kazakhstan hotel for Aisultan Nazarbayev, grandson of Kazakhstan's longtime president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, who has been accused of human rights abuses.
