CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — A former stock broker accused of swindling the producers of a Broadway adaptation of "Rebecca" has pleaded not guilty to fraud and money-laundering charges in a separate case.
Mark Hotton entered the plea Monday in federal court on Long Island. He was ordered held without bail after prosecutors argued he was a flight risk.
In the Long Island case, Hotton is accused in a scheme to sell off fake debts.
He's also charged in Manhattan with defrauding the producers of a musical based on a thriller made famous by the Alfred Hitchcock film.
Prosecutors say he fabricated tales of phantom investors, including a wealthy Aussie who died suddenly.
