VALE, Ore. (AP) -- A Vale High School gym teacher faces misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment following a report he injured a student.
Malheur County District Attorney Dan Norris says 49-year-old Tim Noland will be arraigned Oct. 21.
In a letter delivered to parents Wednesday, Vale School District Superintendent Matthew Hawley said administrators learned of the allegations Sept. 17 and reported the incident to the Malheur County Sheriff's Office. Noland was placed on paid administrative leave the next day.
Hawley declined to release specifics about the alleged incident.
Hawley says Noland has taught in Vale for 28 years and had never before faced such an allegation.
