Former Willamette Industries executive promise $1M to OSU
08:18 AM PDT on Friday, September 22, 2006
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The former CEO of Willamette Industries has pledged $1 million for a scholarship fund at Oregon State University.
Duane and Barbara McDougall say the fund will help financially needy students in the Tigard and Tualatin area to attend college.
McDougall graduated from Oregon State in 1974 and rose through the ranks to lead Willamette Industries before it merged with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. And his wife attended OSU for two years.
McDougall is also a graduate of Tualatin High School.
He says the gift to Oregon State is a chance to give something back to the university and the community where he grew up and raised his children.
