At the top of the list is Dave Frohnmayer, who will earn $444,960 for his final year as president of the University of Oregon.

Not far behind is President Ed Ray of Oregon State University, who will get $425,700 next year.

The raises were recommended by Oregon University System Chancellor George Pernsteiner, and approved by the State Board of Higher Education.

Pernsteiner says the raises are in line with the 4 percent to 6.5 percent range of faculty pay raises on most campuses.

Mary Cullinan, president of Southern Oregon University, got a 4 percent raise, to $185,460.

John Minahan, president of Western Oregon University, got a 6.5 percent raise, to $190,020.

Dixie Lund, interim president for Eastern Oregon University, gets a $9,600 bonus to be paid in 2009 before her appointment expires.

Her salary is $192,000.

Wim Wiewel will become Portland State's new president next month at $350,000 for his first year.
