PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Corvallis defeated 19 other finalists in an online vote that took place earlier this month.
It was one of more than 400 schools to originally enter the "Earth Day Every Day School Challenge." All finalists submitted a short video, showcasing the environmental activities and projects.
Corvallis High School officials say the school consumes less energy than other Oregon schools and hopes to consume even less by installing solar panels on the building's roof.
Meanwhile, the Green club at Corvallis High encourages students to use carbon-neutral transportation by offering incentives to bike or walk to school.
