Firefighters stand outside the Stephenson East dorm on WSU's campus where small fires were set and students were evacuated for a couple of hours early Monday morning.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Three fires were reported on the Washington State University campus within an hour and five minutes early Monday, and police say one man has been arrested.

Pullman fire dispatchers say the first fire was reported at 12:41 a.m. in a dormitory, Stephenson East. The second was at 1 a.m. in a parking garage by the fine arts building, and the third was at 1:46 a.m. in some bushes outside Abelson Hall.

The two largest fires were at the Stephenson East dorm on the second floor where fire crews found a bulletin board on fire.

Another fire was later started in the Stephenson lobby.

And a fire official told KGW's sister station, KREM 2 that a fire damaged a part of a wall.

Students were evacuated, but allowed back into Stephenson around 2:30 a.m.

Police Sgt. Reuben Harris says he saw two men running from the area after the third fire and caught one of them. Harris says he used a stun gun to take a 21-year-old suspect into custody.

The suspect is being held for investigation of obstructing police, and he's also under investigation in the fires.
