03:45 PM PST on Friday, December 14, 2007

By DREW CARNEY, kgw.com Staff

The incredibly intense and equally exciting sport of Motorcycle Ice Racing returns to the Rose City this weekend when Round 2 of the 32nd Annual World Championship Ice Racing Series plays out at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum.

Watch Drew Carney preview this weekend's Motorcycle Ice Racing event at Portland's Memorial Coliseum during the 12/14/07 edition of Newschannel 8 at Sunrise.

The one-night only affair is set for Saturday, December 15th beginning at 8:00pm.

Ticket prices range from $10.00 for Kids and $15.00 for General Admission, to $20.00 for VIP and $40.00 for Front Row VIP. All ticket prices increase by $2 on the day of the event. Prices do not include service charges.

Tickets can be purchased at the Rose Quarter Box Office, at participating Safeway locations, online at www.ComcastTix.com, or by calling 877-789-ROSE (7673).

Racers from throughout America will attempt to secure an early World Championship Points advantage during Saturday night’s action. Up to five divisions of ICE racing are expected to compete, including the thoroughbreds of the sport… the Manufacturers World Cup Motorcycles.

In the wild and wooly Unlimited Outlaw Quads (highly modified 4-wheel ATV’s), the four rider Iowa Posse, headed up by 2007 World Champion Daniel Bergquist, will take on the best from the west.

Everett, Washington’s Ronny Cox is expected to be the man to beat in the popular ICE Nitro X-Kart division. Cox won the ICE World Championship Grand Finale event last March in Las Vegas.

The always entertaining ICE Rocket Bar Stools and some Big Dog Race Bikes will also be a part of Saturday’s racing lineup.
