Steamy conditions continue in small OR town this weekend

10:41 AM PDT on Monday, July 28, 2008

By DREW CARNEY, kgw.com Staff

The small town of Brooks, Oregon is gearing up for the second and final weekend of the 2008 Great Oregon Steam Up this Saturday and Sunday, August 2nd – 3rd.

Watch Drew Carney blow off a little steam at Antique Powerland in Brooks, Oregon during the 07/22/08 edition of Newschannel 8 at Sunrise.

The annual event is held each year on the grounds of what’s known as Antique Powerland, a power equipment heritage site operated by the Antique Powerland Museum Association. It was originally established to preserve, restore, and provide demonstrations of steam powered equipment, antique farm machinery and implements.

The Great Oregon Steam Up is a celebration of all there is to see and do at Antique Powerland. Grounds are open from 7:00am to 6:00pm both Saturday & Sunday, and all of the operational equipment, from steam powered tractors and saw mills to an electric street car and miniature rail rides, will be up and running.

Antique Powerland is located at 3995 Brooklake Road NE in Brooks, just North of Salem.

For more information on The Great Oregon Steam Up call 503-393-2424, or check out the Antique Powerland website.
