By DREW CARNEY, kgw.com Staff

What: Parents looking for fun kid activities this summer can head to Bridgeport Village for Camp Bridgeport, presented by Radio Disney. Each week offers a new camp theme, with hands-on activities designed for ages 4 - 11. Admission is free.

Watch Drew Carney's preview of this summer's Camp Bridgeport at Bridgeport Village during the 07/08/08 edition of Newschannel 8 at Sunrise.

When: Camp Bridgeport takes place every Wednesday beginning July 9th and ending August 27th. Each camp begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.

Where: Each camp begins with book readings and snacks at Borders, located across from Crate and Barrel. Kids will then travel to the Gazebo, located at the center of the Village, for that day's camp activities.

Camp Bridgeport Day Camps:

July 9: MVP Dance - Showcasing their enthusiastic approach to educating kids on the benefits of dance, this high energy dance studio in Beaverton teaches a number of classes to all ages. We will be in for a toe tapping, toe raising, high-kick of a good time.

July 16: Club Sport – Yoga for Kids - The premier family fitness center in the northwest will join us as they teach a segment for kids' yoga. Kids of all ages will be encouraged to participate as they learn about a number of strengthening and balancing yoga positions.

July 23: Mad Science - Always a favorite for kids as they see smoke rise, toilet paper fly and get to wear official science glasses when chosen as a volunteer.

July 30: Motion Commotion by OMSI - Motion Commotion is a fabulous foray filled with fascinating physics fun! Student volunteers participate in Sir Isaac Newton's 300-year-old experiments by using ordinary objects to demonstrate the physics at work around us each day. These exciting demonstrations make physics incredibly easy to understand.

August 6: Young Chef's Academy - Join owner Lisa Field as she gets kids excited about the joys of cooking, chopping, and baking! Lisa's business is located in Tualatin and has many classes available throughout the year.

August 13: OR Commissions - An exciting partnership between five of our State Commissions have come together to educate kids about shopping locally, cooking with local ingredients and learning about these five commissions. Included in the partnership is OR Dairy, OR Blueberries, OR Fryer, OR Pear and OR Potatoes.

August 20: Gymboree - An action-packed day for your little ones to participate in. Coloring, painting, water play, and dance are just a few of the activities with which you will be involved.

August 27: Oregon Historical Society - Celebrating the summer exhibit of Michael Curry's Puppetry: An Out of Body Experience. Kids will learn the art of operating puppetry and what goes on in the design of creation. Michael Curry's work can be found in the Walt Disney Company Theatrical version of The Lion King, among many others.
