Walk this way... Discovery Walk Festival on the move
09:54 AM PDT on Friday, April 27, 2007
The weather forecast suggests a perfect weekend in the Pacific Northwest to get out and enjoy a nice walk, or run, or bike ride perhaps. That’s especially good news for the organizers of the Vancouver International Discovery Walk Festival.

The Children's Culture Parade is one of the many highlights of the annual weekend-long Vancouver International Discovery Walk Festival.
The 11th annual edition of this event begins Friday morning, April 27th and continues on through Sunday, April 29th.
The Hilton Hotel on West 6th Street in downtown Vancouver acts as the official headquarters of the Discovery Walk Festival, with registration for many of the Festival’s walks, bike rides, and swims taking place in the hotel lobby.
Young walkers got this year’s Festival started Friday morning with a Children’s Culture Parade at Vancouver’s Historic Reserve.
Another of the Festival’s highlights is Friday afternoon’s Mayor’s Friendship Walk through Vancouver’s historically rich central city. Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard will kick the walk off with a send-off speech at 4pm at the Hilton Hotel.
You can join the celebration on Saturday by participating in any or all of the scheduled walks, bike rides, and swims. The highlight on Saturday will be the 6K Family Fun Walk, which begins at 10am. Cost to participate is $8 for those over 12 years of age, and free for those 12 and under.
