11:39 AM PDT on Tuesday, April 29, 2008
The Oregon Ag Fest is back at the State Fairgrounds in Salem this weekend, celebrating its 21st year of educating the public about the importance of agriculture in a fun, family-friendly environment.
The two day event begins on Saturday, April 26th from 8:30am to 5:00pm and wraps up on Sunday, April 27th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Kids can learn about the economic impact agriculture has on the entire state through interactive demonstrations that show where the food they eat comes from, how sheep are raised for their wool to make clothing, and the importance of our forests for ecology and human survival.
Among the highlights at Ag Fest is Ag Country with hands-on activities for children, e.g. grinding wheat, digging for potatoes, watching chicks hatch, etc.
Ag Fest only costs $6 for adults and kids 12 and under get in for free.
