Portland Roadster Show provides weekend pitstop
10:51 AM PST on Friday, February 29, 2008
The 52nd Annual Portland Roadster Show rolls through the Oregon Convention Center this weekend, Friday, February 29th through Sunday, March 2nd.
The show has a long and respected history dating back to its first year in 1956. The Multnomah Hot Rod Council has been responsible for putting the event on year in and year out since that inaugural show 52 years ago.
The original show was held in the National Guard Armory on 10th and Couch Street in what is now considered part of Portland’s Pearl District. 5500 people showed up that weekend setting a record at the time for the highest attendance of a hot rod show in the Portland area.
This year’s show at the Convention Center will run from 2pm to 10pm on Friday, 10am to 10pm on Saturday, and 10am to 7pm on Sunday.
The Multnomah Hot Rod Council is a non-profit organization made up of several car clubs in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington. For more information you can check out their website, www.portlandroadstershow.com.
