National "traveling" exhibit lands at Pearson Air Museum
12:14 PM PST on Thursday, January 3, 2008
“At the Controls: The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Looks at Cockpits” is on display at Vancouver WA’s Pearson Air Museum now through February 8th.
The traveling exhibit features 20 full-color, life-sized photographs of historic aircraft, with the intention of giving viewers the feeling of being in the pilot’s seat.
Kyle Kihs, Director of Pearson Air Museum said, “We wanted to give people the opportunity to see the cockpit photos in the Smithsonian exhibit and then climb up and look at some vintage cockpits close up (at the Museum). We’re excited to host this exhibit in its only Oregon and Southwest Washington stop.”
Pearson Air Museum is located at 1115 East Fifth Street, on the grounds of the Vancouver National Historic Reserve. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and Sundays from 11:00am to 4:00pm. The Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
For more information, contact Pearson Air Museum at 360-694-7026, or check out the Museum’s official website, www.pearsonairmuseum.org.
