Portland Beavers and Timbers owner Merritt Paulson is working feverishly to put together a deal this weekend to bring a Major League Soccer team to Portland.
He says he almost had a tentative deal to present to the full city council next week when something happened between Commissioner Randy Leonard and Paulson.
Leonard says they were discussing a condition that Paulson cover any cost overruns of renovating PGE Park and building a new stadium for the Beavers.
That's when Leonard says Paulson stormed out.
During Friday's taping of "Straight Talk", Paulson told me he never stormed out.
And he sounds ready to give the city everything it wants in order to put a deal together.
Still, Portland attorney and founder of the Oregon Sports Authority, William Glasgow is skeptical.
He doesn't think the deal pencils out for the city or is the right priority for Portland taxpayers in this grim economy.
Join us for the debate Saturday night at 7pm on "Straight Talk".
Let me know what you think.
The city will announce its decision Wednesday, March 11th.
Let's keep talking.
